The Footy Trader

Could be a thrashing the way Man U are playing at the moment but then there could be some extra motivation from Roma too. Either way I will be unlikely to trade the unders on this one and it will be more probable to see me trading on the under 2.5 goals of the Shalke vs Barcelona match of the Rangers game. Looking forward to seeing the Man U game on the telly though.

But I can’t as the Betfair API seems to be down. I can get into Betfair using BinarysoftBDI but not with BetIE. A bit strange but there you go. I would have thought that BinarySoft uses the API also but it is the only thing that I can think of.

I did have a trade on the Betis vs Barcelona game last night. I profited by more than the 1% target of the betting bank despite the fact that I traded on the under 3.5 goals when it was 0-2 and the game ended with Barcelona losing 2-3. My teams were doing well up to that point. Birmingham winning 3-1 against Man City and Villa losing to the other Manchester team. I have to be happy at Villa losing because I went to a Villa game once and they all were cheering when the score of the concurrent Birmingham City game showed that City was losing.

I was using BinarySoft BDI to trade the Barcelona game which has some nice enhancements lately. The real time charting looks very nice. I will talk some more about the usefuness of it when I have had a chance to play with it some more. Here is a screenshot of the Charting…. As you can see you have a line for the last traded price. The blue area is the best buy price available and the ind area the best sell price available. The VC I think is the info about the volume being matched and is shown as a bar or a spikes from the bottom of the chart.

Another successful day with the correct score dutchings. Only one of the games, Blackburn vs Wigan  finished outside the scope of the dutches with a scoreline of 3 -1, as set up in BetIE and the profit for the day was 131 Euro. Since I started the test the profit has grown now to 800 Euro. I suppose that I could have a bad wekk happen or a couple of bad weeks which is why I think that a long term test like this is important.

The main thing is to get a profit from a game that is higher as a percentage than the statistics say that the dutching should lose. I worked out that 25% of games could fall outside of the most popular scores so if I bet with 100 on each dutch the so long as I have a profit of more than 25 then I will be a winner long term.

I have found though, that it is possible to increase the strike rate to higher than 75% by adjusting the choice of scores for the dutch depending on the games that I can get a better strike rate which is going to mean more profits even.

I used BetIE to set up the Dutch. Great software that you only have to pay for once, no monthly fees and has a leaning mode so you an try thing out without risk to the betting bank. For professional trading and you need a ladder interface and excel contectability then you should get BetAngel which is for the professionals. It does just about everything. BetAngel has a free version that gives you basic one click betting and is good for greening up small amounts.

Did the dutch on the Spurs vs Portsmouth and Villa vs Sunderland for today. I just made sure that I got as many of the most likely scores and had a profit of around €30 – 35 on the dutch. Each dutch is done with a liability of 100.

There you go totally greened up and will get paid as soon as the game is over. I like to use BinarySoft because I can use it native on my Mac – It will work on other systems too. For trading with a full ladder interface I find it just great.  Just have to get used to the binary nature of the software. It is pretty easy really with 100% and that has happened and 0% if the event doesn’t happen.
Can be used on multiple choice markets as well as markets that are totally binary like the under 2.5 goals. So if you are working with the match odds for example and backing the draw and you lay off later to green up, it will green up across the 3 options, home win, draw and away win.

For software that you can use to do other stuff and have ALL the bells and whistles, making a book for example or dutching the try out BetAngel, Soccer Mystic or BetIE. Each have pluses and minuses depending on what you are doing with your trading.

The plan of action will be to trade the under 2.5 goals market and also to set up a dutch on the correct score. Newcastle will be looking to get a win under the hand of Kevin Keegan. Not turning out the hero he was expected to be for the Toon Army. Newcastle have lost the last 4 away games and have not won for some time, 12 games to be exact. The scoreline forecast on Soccerstats.com is for over 2.5 goals.

Birmingham need a win  due to being a bit close to the relegation zone but Newcastle are only 2 places above I expect it will be a hard fought game.

Fulham won 1 – nil as did Wigan too and Man City won 2-1

I just added up the profit before commission and it is another 107 Euro onto the betting bank of profit. The profit in total since I started this tes, now stands at  635 Euro over 36 games. Would have been better than that except I didn’t get to do the games yesterday and they would all have worked out right.
