There are a few out there so what would I recommend?

Kind of depends on what you want to do. Here are a few suggestions

With the Euro championships coming up you might want to consider the excellent dedicated to football Soccer Mystic. I used it for a while and I was impressed. I expected it to be good coming as it does from the BetAngel stable.

As you know I am a Mac user and for that reason I like to use Binarysoft BDI for trading. It has a different sort of way of working which seems strange at first but actually works very well. Full ladder interface and is pretty good for trading.

In BetAngel you have the full ladder interface too and besides that there is a whole host of things that you can do with BetAngel and it really is the one for the professionals. You can even connect it up to Excel to make work as a Betting Bot. You really should go and get the trial cut down version and also try out the full version. I think BetAngel have a nice offer to try it for 20 days very cheaply.

There is also the Racing  traders software and you can buy use of that by buying minutes. Actually a good way to try it out. Good for trading also.

I did try another MarketFeeder Pro – Stunning Conditional Betting Technologies and it had a sort of scripting language built in and was quite impressive in what you could make it do. Basically a roll your own bot in the software.

Another software I have had a lot of use from is the super BetIE. One of the good things about it is the learning mode which is nothing short of brilliant for testing out strategies without risking your betting bank capital. Also this my suit people that like to pay once for some software and not have monthly fees. Good for horse racing and you ge help from Dave and Nessie that run BetIE thrown in.

Why not try them all out and then choose which one suits you and your style of trading best.

I watched the game and didn’t have any interest in it in monetary terms. I was surprised to see Beckham in the starting line up but it paid off with the free kick he sent in for John Terry to head in. As the pundits on the TV were saying, England took a while to show they were the better side. I enjoyed the game, less of the usual pain of watching England play.

I had matched bets running on a Greek game which went to the bookie side and a German game which put money on the Betfair side. Would have been nice to have all the money over to Betfair. This was with Bet at Home which has a super offer right now of 100% bonus up to 200 Euro. I took the full €200 and it was nice seeing the balance on the account jump from 200 to 400 just by putting in the code to claim it. The T & C are not bad but there will be no withdrawals on this until after June 8th. Also I have to turn over 1600 euro before I can withdraw, which is why I want the Betfair side to win.

I couldn’t find any football bets to work with today so I went with a NBA basketball game on this evening.

It depends on what you are doing of course.

If you are trading on the under 2.5 goals then you should choose a game that has odds of 1.90 or more on the under 2.5 side of the market. Doesn’t have to be exact but around that is good. If it is much lower than that, then you might find that the odds don’t move quick enough  in the usual direction as you would like at the start of the game. The odds will reflect to a certain extent the probability of how many goals there could be in the game, so if you start with odds of 2.30 on the unders then the market seems to think there could be a lot of goals in the game and although it could fall quicker because it has more to fall, it good just mean that there is going to be an early goal and you will not have time to trade out / green up.

Also there is the concept of value of the odds overall. If the probability of it being under 2.5 goals is 55%, the Premiership stats show that as the probability of that happening through the season, then the odds of 1.90 would give you a profit of €4.50 if you just did 100 bets of €1.

If you did 100 bets with odds of 1.80 with the same market then you would probably lose €1

OK so that is a quick look at the under 2.5 goals. What about if you are matching bets?

The first bet if it is a qualifying bet can be with what ever odds the Terms and conditions will allow, eg. there might be a minimum of 1.5. The idea is to lose as little money as possible, normally the odds at the Bookmaker will be lower at the bookie than at Betfair. For example 3.00 at the bookie you may find 3.20 at Betfair. I did once get a trade without a loss. The odds at Betfair was a little lower. That does not happen often though. On the Manchester vs Chelsea Champions League final I got 3.20 on both sides. The only loss was due to the commission at Betfair.

I try to have the cash end up on the Betfair side as many times as possible so I choose odds that reflect that possibility such as odds higher than 3.30. I often went for the draw at the bookie and laid off the same at Betfair. Home wins happen about 46% of the time and a draw only 26%. So there is more chance that I will win at Betfair. The matched betting is risk free but it is so much easier if the money is over in Betfair. Easier to repatriate to my bank.
